The most important layer is you.the first and last line of defense. Security is all about layers and not depending on any one solution, technology or approach to protect yourself from cyber-criminals. It has been proven time and again that the end user is a more substantial factor ( weakest link in the security chain) than the architecture of the operating system or installed protection software. So I would like to know what are the best programs I could rely on to keep me safe?

Deep down I dont believe all nasty programs are discovered and there may be invisible programs on my PC which do not get found so encryption of keystrokes makes sense to me. I think what I am saying is I dont know enough about PC security to set up an effective strategy and so I rely on several apps to keep me safe from anything installed and anything that tries to install.

Telling me not to install things doesnt really help an amateur like me as I don't really know how things get installed and then there are things which cant be seen by me such as exploits. I am worried about my various logon details being stolen and dont know how else to protect myself. To me if I install an anti-keylogger with keystroke encryption and screen capture protection then I am using belt and braces with superantispyware and KIS2020? If there is anything nasty on my PC then I am covered more than if I do nothing. Perhaps I dont understand the technology but a screen capture protection and a keystroke encrypter seem to my mind to be useful protection from losing my logons information if I have/get a keylogger.ĭoes anyone know of a good piece of software for what I need?
Spyshelter offers keystroke encryption which is what I believe I want as the ultimate protection if a keylogger ends up on my PC. I dont store banking information on my PC but do logon and so tell me I am wrong but the weakness here is logging on and being spied upon and the data captured by someone other than me. The web site it sent me to to unsubscribe could have put something on my PC and this concerns me still. Recently unusually I was sent an email magazine to which I unsubscribed and then realised it was a scam to get an active email address. I am concerned most about online banking and someone stealing my logon details and then stealing my hard earned cash. I was the victim of a phishing attack from an email and so even if you surf sensibly you may still fall victim to the installation of a keylogger. I may well be wrong but what you say seems to go against the information I have learned so far.
